If you wish to know about the MALAKAS Project, go to Timothy Soro's entry here for more info about the project.
NOTE: Admittedly, he closely resembles a Kyogye, a whale-like Pokemon.
Description:
"The strength of Earth and the wisdom of Heaven must be kept in perfect balance at all times," was some of the pearls of wisdom that Kaiten, an anthropomorphic whale, would live each day. Before those words were the days of lack of self-control on his part on combatting whaling on the Japanese seas. All the local anti-whaling group wanted was to put the official stop to the nation-sponsored fishing on whales through humane and respectful means, such as protesting, negotiation for a compromise and blockading whaling ships. But Kaiten, the strongest member of the said organization, proved to be the most relentless by either hijacking or ramming into one ship, whose carelessness would write down a series of casualities inflicted on fishermen, feral whales and even his fellow activists alike, all to haunt him on the long run.
One day, all of his reckless acts would eventually kick him out from the anti-whaling organization, following the infamy getting entitled by the international court to the said group due to a serious amount of collateral damage, mostly afflicted by Kaiten himself, all despite the group's genuine intentions. Not even his activist comrades would cover for him, as things had become too much to bear, but one member, a female American rabbit named Lisa Mayberry, suggested him to move to the US state of California, where other anti-whaling activists would be happy to welcome him. Kaiten himself would insist to himself to his chances, and so went into hiding in a some sacred forest in Kyoto for a week until he met a lone monk who stopped by a shoddily made hut just to meditate.
Recognizing Kaiten for his actions on whaling ships, the unnamed weasel monk assumed that bad things inflicted on both opposing sides were contributed from the whale's misguided anger. While the monk sympathized with Kaiten, given that his feral kind had been taken down by whalers for local cuisine for years, he also chastized him for lacking discipline, for holding onto one would not only keep the local anti-whaling group stronger together, but would also build more international pressure onto the Japanese government. The monk could also disillusion in Kaiten's eyes, as the latter resented his late parents for hunting their own feral kind, and so rejected the very family values he needed in his life. Driven to tears, for over a lengthy confession, all Kaiten wanted was to make the world leave his feral kind in peace and free from continuous fishing, but he also admitted that he hated taking responsibility on any action he committed, which would undeniably make him a burden both on his family and his activist friends. For all consequences placed on him, he would project his anger onto any external issue he saw fit. The weasel monk patted on Kaiten's back to comfort him and offered to teach him the basic values for free, but on the long run Kaiten would have to explore them further by himself, for the said monk was getting too old to move on. Kaiten tearfully agreed and would spend another week with that monk, until the day of the latter's passing, where Lisa would eventually find the weeping whale kneeling before his late master's urnstone. The last words given to Kaiten, albeit a very common phrase and another one of phrases he would have to remember by, was "with great power comes with great responsibility."
Unbeknownst to Kaiten, Lisa had learned much about the MALAKAS Project situated in California, all thanks to her fellow American friends who had participated there. She had accumulated enough money and clothes to get Kaiten to move to California and join that project as soon as possible, because she had also heard that their anti-whaling organization had been declared 'personae non gratae' by the international court, allowing the Japanese government to hunt it down and arrest its members. Still committed to the anti-whaling cause yet now more calmer than ever, Kaiten relented with a sigh in dismay and left Japan with Lisa's money on disguise, though the rabbit girl wished to stay with her Japanese friends in a meantime, assuring him she would be fine.
Kaiten had managed to arrive in Santo Tomas, California, where he would receive a warm welcome from his fellow American activists, just as expected, but he would also come across certain types of people who couldn't take kindly to either his presence or his cause. However, despite such mean treatment, he remained angry but soft-spoken and well-maintained, for he fully realized that he could not force those people to change their views neither could make them fear him, no matter how much he wanted to. Even though he wasn't exactly interested in the MALAKAS Project, he felt he needed to join it so as to discover his inner strength, not through mechanical enhancements, but to use the said strength both to empower the good virtues in him and to motivate his drive to his cause.
By the time he had join the said project, Kaiten proved to be not just a good trainee, but also a great teacher, mostly on self-control, for he sternly cautioned against crossing the threshold of "not being able to control one self's emotions". He furthered saying "without having moderation, discipline and self-control in their life, would strength and power become a dangerous liability to one's self and everyone around them, hence they would as well drag themselves into their fate of self-destruction." Of course, that wouldn't stop other Recruits from bullying him, but he never cared, for almost everyone in the mountain base had seen no doubt that Kaiten carried an incredible mental fortitude within himself, making him too unhasty to resort to anger and reckless violence, all thanks to these wise statements of his. This also gave him an opportunity to take on the project's instructorship to personally assist other Recruits, although he still wanted to help his anti-whaling comrades, he had also realized that even causes like that required patience and understanding, and therefore he became an Instructor for the rest of the year, so as to improve his teachings and to strengthen his resolve with the very values he was given by his late master. In connection to his peace of mind, he also declined the Juggernaut promotion, seeing the obvious effects of receving it through witnessing other Juggernauts.
"A clear mind can utilize strength and power with constructive efficiency to achieve more precise and devastating results than a crazy berserker going on an uncontrolled rampage." -Kaiten Nagare
