While very seldom discussed the Bible actually contains a curse that can be placed on an unfaithful partner. The curse is supposed to be effective only if actually infidelity has occurred. It is supposed to cause a series of very specific deformities that were considered unattractive by the beauty standards of iron age Hebrew culture. This reminds me of that.
