I've been thinking about adding a touch of color to my character. Nothing outrageous or major, just a little something to make me a little more interesting than "black and white cat." I don't know. I'll have to think about it. I kind of like it, though.
I did the line art in Flash 5. I've never done line art in Flash before. You can get some very nifty results, but, in my case, I think I need to work on non-vector drawings before I start doing Flash drawings on a regular basis.
This is also a really hard angle for me to draw. It turned out... okay. I've done better.
EDIT (6/10/2007): Demoted to scraps because of the egregious error on the right arm...

Haha blue. X) Cute!
First thing I saw when I looked at this was that his arm gets skinnier when it hits his shirt. See how you drew the shirt up into where his armpit should be?
What I do is draw the entire figure and then draw clothes on him. Do you draw the clothes and then draw appendages coming out?
Anyway, if you don't do it, drawing the whole thing naked first is a good way to make sure you don't cut off any skin when you put the clothes on. (:
I really like his arm and hand for some reason. The way you drew where his forearm and upper arm connect really sticks out for some reason. I just like that the line that extends to connect them is from his upper arm. Gives it more of a look like you're looking at it from above.
I like that, k?!
And like I said, so many people that draw have NO IDEA what head shape is. XD But you even brought his cheeks in for where it connects to the muzzle. I used to just draw human shaped faces because I couldn't pull off what you have and do it convincingly. And I love those ears<3
Another thing you should do is start drawing hands. Just hands, a bunch of them. You're already doing pretty good hands, but you could easily improve them a lot by just doing a couple things, like making the fingers different lengths. You already kind of do it, I'm seeing, but it should be a little more of a dramatic difference between the middle finger and pinky. Your thumb anatomy is awesome, though. X) Sometimes I have trouble with that.
And his neck should be a little thicker. Not much, but a little bit. You have the lines coming down where they'd be cutting his eyes in half if you extended them. I think they should be around 75% of his eyes. Just a tiny bit more space, but it'll make some difference, I think. :3
I like how you draw eyes, btw. You're improving. (: Nice stuff.
I've never done linearts in Flash, either, but I've heard it's a good lineart program, so if I ever get a tablet, I might try it out.

Yeah, I saw the arm thing. It's definitely the most glaring error. It's partly due to the way Flash "corrects" lines, and partly due to the fact that it was 2:00 AM and I didn't notice. I looked at that this morning as was like, "WTF. O_o" As I said, I'm probably a bit inexperienced to be inking in Flash.
As for the line extending, I did that to make up for the fact that I don't plan on shading this drawing. Without it it looks really weird to me. (Like it's in some kind of funky cast, or something.)
As for the head, I've looked at quite a few "How to draw heads" tutorials. This helped me to realize that, lo and behold, heads are not actually shperes. (Since I have a math and science background, I usually visualize what I want in terms of simple geometric objects. Spheres, cubes, cones, etc.)
For my hands, yeah, they need work. What I ought to do is trace my hand and measure the proportions. Then work on scaling that down. (By, as you suggest, practicing.)
As for the neck, that's a good suggestion. I hadn't really given it much thought. It's one of those things I kept redrawing (which is kind of a painful process in Flash) until it looked "close enough."
Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out eyes. I'm not sure I'll ever get a set way I do them. It's something you can have a lot of fun with, trying out different expressions and the like.
As for me improving, I can tell when I look at my 2003-2004 art. Some of it is pretty atrocious. But it's always nice to hear that from someone else. :3
Actually, the way Flash works, you can probably do pretty good mouse drawings. It has "automatic line straightening" and "automatic line smoothing" modes that work wonders on some things.

Hmm, maybe I'll try mouse things with flash...

That's the best thing to do, so awesome. :D I still have some problems doing that...I've been working on it lately, though.
Eyes are something I only recently got a set style on...it's taken me SO long to get that. D:

Oh, I wouldn't call it "best." Whatever method works for a person is "best."
As for visualizing 3D shapes in 2D spaces, I recommend any 3D modeling program. (3DSmax and Maya are the popular ones, but there are free ones out there like DAZ and Art of Illusion.) You don't have to do anything outstanding with it, just start with the primitives and manipulate them to see how they transform on screen. You may even find you like it and start doing 3D modeling, too. :P
