Dereck is a renowned warrior and tactician from the Magus Alliance, specializing in swordsmanship and spellcasting. Having ascended the ranks with his best friend and lover, Kudo, during the war with the Sovereign Directorate, he was well on his way to becoming a Royal Guardsman. Unfortunately, at the decisive battle that would come to be known as the Massacre at Marble Valley, Dereck was struck by a sniper round to the head while trying to save Kudo from a kind of warrior that had never been seen before... Kudo ultimately accepted his role in the Royal Guardsman because of Dereck's sacrifice, and would honor his legacy through his actions.

However, nearly four years after his death, sightings of Dereck across the Kingdoms and the Empires have begun to stir panic... as has his seeming affiliation with the newly arisen Cult of Knell...
