That was a wonderful little piece, Vixyy.
I have felt the feeling you described in the former half a few times, with films and with books, Spielberg's A.I. is a good example with the flooded and frozen over Manhattan.
Then the deliberate mood whiplash with the poker players was a nice twist, almost like both a release and showcasing another type of loss.
