After the recent hacking, I took a few days off of FA to ensure that the matter was dealt with. Thankfully the issue got resolved sooner than expected (I thought I'd need to stay away for a month or so) and now I'll do some slight... catching up. So, 2 uploads today.

The Grunting Cliff Hopper is a relative of the common Gruntling. It inhabits the cliffs on the Crown of the Northern Abyss, on the eastern side of the Elysium Continent. Small and agile, this little critter is well-suited for life in its dry and mostly vertical environment.


Grunting Cliff Hoppers are primarily herbivorous, feeding on shrubs, roots, and tubers of plants growing on the cliffs. Occasionally, they do come down to the narrow, coastal planes around the outer rim of the Abyss to graze. There, however, they are more vulnerable to predation. As a result of that, they only venture out into the coastal planes when no other food is available.

In harsher times, or when the opportunity presents itself, they will partake in the occasional invertebrate or egg ("primarily herbivorous" is not the same as "exclusively herbivorous"). Their thick tails function as a means to store fat for leaner months. Their large ears are not only effective tools for predator detection but also aid in releasing heat when the temperatures outside reach over 36 degrees Celsius.


With a versatile diet and adaptations for harsh environments, the Grunting Cliff Hoppers are a species with a lot of potential for the future.
