A kami that seems to make his hobby studying other kami - and their artifacts. Fascinating.
To what end, Suzucon-sama? The curiosity of an elder kami of how the world came to be, and his place in it? Or something more sinister? This remains sus, at least to this old bird. Another tell: He mentions, "The spark of life." And near him is a servant with no soul...
He goes from threatening to murder them all, to calling Saida-hime "My dear?" Something Just Ain't Right about this kitsunegami.

Is he though? Roko was saying that if/when a kitsune obtains a ninth tail, is power would be better than some of the lesser gods, possibly on par or greater than queen Vetra, but not that he was a deity of any sort within the lore of this universe.
I still don't think he's an antagonist for our trio. I think he believes knowledge is power, and does not want to be a part of the coming conflict. He may see our heroes as just his pawns as the story unfolds, but that will means he's probably going to help them more than hurt them.
I still continue to maintain my right for my speculations to be wrong.

Any of us can be wrong. You might be right and *I* might be wrong. That's part of the fun - finding out without the fluffing around part.
Heck, we both might be right. Suzucon-sama might be an antivillain. Someone that appears to be a villain but actually has heroic intent. Good intentions, but a really bad way of reaching them.
And I've long said that Virmir is not obligated to follow the lore. He mixes and matches mythologies. But: He captures the essence of the kitsunegami very well, even getting as fine a detail as the hoshi no tama (Ball of Stars, or kitsune-ball) right. And there are some subtleties even within that - a Mio no kitsune like Roko-san has a large and showy hoshi no tama, while the vastly more powerful Suzucon-sama has a small, subtle one.
Virmir's good at laying out hints without giving the entire game away, and believe me as a writer I'm taking notes.

Seeing how many users are commenting on Virmir’s work just goes to show that he knows how to create engaging stories that others enjoy reading.
Personally, I don’t think Suzocon would keep the Eyestone. Sooner or later (although I’m surprised it hasn’t happened already), the Quetz are going to realise that the Eyestone and Saida are gone (not to mention Roko’s “stealth mission”).
Being a shape shifting kitsune, and how Brand was accused and “punished”, it’s not hard to imagine the Quetz holding Suzocon responsible for theft and “kidnapping”.
That said, I don’t think Suzocon’s is just going to help our trio out “for free”.

That was the implied threat when Saida had Roko throw out the Eyestone and told Suzucon-sama that she was Saida-hime. If he erased them and simply took the Eyestone for himself, there would be blood when Vetra found out.
It worked. It made him back down. Now it's his move, basically.

So, going back to page 196... Omin had eight eyes, then split into Sky Valmin and Earth Omnir with four each... Valmin split into Cirios the Day and Mirios the Night with two each. Cirios split into Azure the Blue and Sursina the White, each getting one. Sursina split into Lord Surya, who has the Sun, likely the same eye Sursina possessed, but also into Queen Vetra. Aysu has the moon, so Aysu is either a split from Mirios or a split from a split from Mirios, and the Moon accounts for one of two of Mirios' eyes.
So... Queen Vetra didn't inherit her eyestone. It could be one of Omnir's four eyes, or it could be one of the two remaining eyes of Valmin, either Azure the Blue's eye or Mirios the Night's second eye. We know the volcano dragons, kitsune, and dryads all come from Omnir. I wouldn't be surprised if the eyestone Vetra had originally belonged to the volcano dragons.

As long as it stays polite, there's no bigger complement you can pay a writer. Hilariously wrong speculation is even better - it means you've successfully hidden what is really going on until you are ready to show it. And that can be damn hard to do. Even the best writers in the business, like the screenwriters of the old Pixar, sometimes flub this and telegraph plot twists.
I think I have a picture in mind how all these pieces fit together, but it could be utterly, completely wrong. And I don't mind being wrong - just means Virmir's a really good writer!
