WARNING: Large comment.
This was fun. Really, stinkin', fun. This comment is going to be broken up so that the first part is about the pokegirls and the next part will be more detail of how I feel about it.
Tyranitar: Ok. Normally, whenever I think of my interpretation of Tyranitar, it almost always be summed up as Godzilla on steriods. In fact, that's how it is with a lot of the Pokemon here. Now, I had gotten to thinking that Tyranitar and Aggron were both very equal in size. But this thought occurred after I had been looking at a picture of a female anthro Tyranitar. And, as most of my watchers know, I had recently had a fun time drawing large kaiju girls. So, the image I had gotten was not what I would usually have gotten if someone had come up and said, "Draw Tyranitar fighting Aggron."
What formed was two females (both of considerable weight since these Pokemon are heavy) getting ready for a fight. This brought a creative spur upon me. And I started looking around, created a list, and started drawing.
Aggron: Kind of the same as above, so I don't have much to comment on.
Amphoros: In hindsight, Amphoros isn't quite so big or heavy. In fact, it's realitively medium sized. But, it's shaped so that it looked like it could work, so, it got on the list.
Charizard: Again, this is a Pokemon I would normally never even consider as depicting as relatively big. In fact, I'd be more prone to drawing it even more lithe than it is and with a big flame on it's tail. However, this time was different, and I decided to go with it.
Blastoise: It was kind of natural for me to put it on the list. Blastoise is just a big Pokemon. I'll also mention that I liked drawing the face.
Lickitung: This one I didn't like as much, mostly because I screwed up the design on her belly. I redraw her, if I wanted.
Marowak: Like Amphoros, maybe Marowak didn't belong, but, hey, I drew it. I like it. So please, don't complain.
Sandslash: Also like Amphoros and Marowak.
Nidoqueen: She was a natural to go on the list. She's very bulky in build, fully evolved, and has a shape that tyranitar and aggron share.
Rhydon: She was fun to do. The big tank like Pokemon were very fun to do for something like this. Plus, Rhydon has something special that none of the other Pokemon on this list have shown...
Rhyperior: ... an evolved form introduced in a later generation. Speaking more about the game now, I love it when Game Freak does this, and I'm anxious to know what other Pokemon will get evolved forms (Sableye).
But, yeah, I figured Rhyperior had to be bigger than Rhydon, so, TA-DA!
Slowbro: Or Slowsis. Yeah, I really don't have much to say about this one.
Snorlax: I pretty much took Snorlax. Then, I made it bigger.
DANG.
Lapras: She stands out from the pack here. Not only is Lapras quadrapedal, but it only had fins. So this one turned out to be very fun to play with. I didn't want to take away the fins, but I didn't want to put in fingers. So, now she can waddle at best (it's faster than crawling, at least).
Groudon: Should only have to say this; 1 TON.
Hydreigon: This was a bit more odd for me because I'm not to big on multiple headed creatures. I, obviously, got over it.
Reshiram: Oh man. Making it heavier is one thing, but making it female? That's another.:)
You see, I often think of the argument that Zekrom should be female because it represents the side associated with cold, introvertedness, and feminine qualities. Thus, Reshiram is male. Well, to those who say Reshiram is male, I disagree. To me, Reshiram looks like a female. Of course, they're genderless, but if it was to me, Reshiram is female. Zekrom was considered for the list, but to me, it was out of the question. It could only be Reshiram becoming the female.
Salamence: Salamence it seemed just kind of had to go on the list (a lot of pseudo-legendaries seemed that way). Plus, there aren't many female Salamence.
You guys want to know something, though? Between Flygon and Salamence, I used to like Salamence. But then I started to like bugs more and more. And the fact the Trapinch does a total 180 in design, it just grew on me. Plus, I love ground Pokemon. So, in the long haul, Flygon has become the victor for the Hoenn dragons in my book.
Tropius: A winged long necked dinosaur. In my book, that's awesome. I severely hope tropius gets another evolution.
Dialga and Lopunny: This... this was more for comedic effect.
Many know that Dialga and Lopunny aren't even in the same league. In fact, Lopunny probably wouldn't have much going for it (with the exception of some fighting moves). So, this idea came to my head. Yes, Dialga is all big and grand and stuff. But, what if Lopunny was even bigger?
This was very interesting for me. I got to draw certain concepts (dragons and monsters) that I would normally draw as muscled Godzillas or lithe demons in ways that I would normally never even consider. It was a great moment of inspiration for me. And I really can't wait for the next moment like that. Unfortunately, that'll probably be a long way off.
And, of course, there were some Pokemon on the list that I didn't draw. Why? I didn't want to. It's as simple as that.
So, yeah, I suspect I may take a look back and I'll likely see what I want to draw again. For now, though, I think this'll be a fine compilation.
