Heh! The U.S. Coast Guard Station on that old base is still active. When I worked at the base some of their ships were older than me. Not any more! They get the latest and greatest every few years, with all the high-tech toys. Well, except the USCGC Eagle, which the U.S. took from Germany at the end of WWII.
The Eagle serves the same purpose as a training vessel. Yeah, I read the Wikipedia article about the Fragata Libertad!
