There's nothing like returning to a comfort form when you're in a state of poetic uncertainty. This is a sonnet I've been working on since this past semester's week of finals. The idea sprouted from the first quatrain, which I wrote almost subconsciously; I loved it far too much to let the concept it was developing go.
The first line may sound familiar to some of you because the concept is a parallel to Shakespeare's Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day sonnet.
I'd like to thank
Maxgoof for helping me fine-tune this one; being the first poem in a long time (and one of nature, at that), it means a lot to me. ^^
I hope you all enjoy it! More to come soon, I think; the drought seems to be over.
Until next poem. =3

Excellent news! As for me, well, let's just say it's going to be a lengthy summer. ^^;
I won't be taking summer classes this time around, so I've plenty of me-time, but boredom cares very little about that and strikes swiftly nonetheless. x3
I shall be fine though; I hope to dish out more poetic goodness to make up for my 3 month hiatus due to school. =)

Now, Sequoia, I see absolutely no reason to detest you for your honest opinion, especially since you were courteous about it. Though I can't say I agree with you, it's quite alright, sir. ^^
Your comment is nonetheless very appreciated; I'm glad you enjoyed it for the most part. =D

*gasp* D:
Despise the sonnet? Be specific, my boy! What aspect of the sonnet do you disdain: the strict format adherence of iambic pentameter and rhyme? Or perhaps you don't like how they sound even when written according to these guidelines?
Just curious, just curious; don't take me too seriously now. x3
I do appreciate the comment, Soka. =)

A very understandable opinion; indeed, you have every right to it. =)
Unfortunately, I'm not strongly drawn to poetry without form; it just...lacks something, in my eyes. As such, I don't think I'd have the knack for it, but it's good that poets like yourself do. Diversity in art is imperative. ^^

That's unfortunate to hear, Poetic, but I'm relieved that you at least have good summer goals, especially the return to college. =O
As for your poetry, well, sometimes it seems like we just can't choose to be prolific. I can only hope that your drought encounters a much needed rainstorm soon. (-_-)
