When Breezer starts channeling high powered magic, he breaks out in spots. Also his eyes change color.
At the adventuring academy he learned that he needs a dual focus to cast anything really powerful, so he puts his blade in front of his carefully aimed focus staff. (only Breezer himself can see the light beam he's using to refine his aim) The two fields allow him to fire the spell.
Based on the angle of his spell, he's either dealing with something big, or something smaller up one of the many trees that surround his hometown.
