Sharilar Starmyst was kidnapped, and through a ritual, unintentionally bonded to the Great Dark Beyond. Keeping her sanity through sheer force of will, she grew in power, slowly transforming and becoming more powerful with each additional tail, before ascending into an Elder God herself, bearing dominion over hope and forbidden knowledge. This is her journey.
On awakening after her ordeal, Sharilar found her mind assaulted by notions and concepts she could barely comprehend. Through sheer force of will, she managed to push it back until it became only a soft whisper in the back of her mind, rather than the torrent that had threatened to drown her sanity.
She quickly found the local priesthood could do nothing for her, as they could sense no curse upon her, only a hanging darkness. One brave soul did try to touch her mind, but was himself nearly driven mad, spouting gibberish for three days before his fellow clerics could restore his sanity.
Unsure of what to do next, Sharilar returned to the caravan and resumed her life from before the incident as best she could, and made another discovery. While the ritual had ripped the moon's light from her soul, replacing it with with the dark of the void between the stars, it had not dimmed her ability to read one's future - rather she could now almost see the threads of fate themselves, using the cards of the Harrow to guide her.
Not only that, but the void itself bore an energy and power all its own. If she carefully reached out just right, she could tap into it, call it forth, and make it do her bidding. And each time it became a little easier, a little more natural... a little more a part of her.
She didn't think much of it until a desperate battle forced her to reach deep into that well of dark magic. For a brief moment, she lost control. When Sharilar returned to her senses, not only had the ever-present whispers become a bit clearer to her, the void within a bit stronger and more interwoven with her soul, but where one tail had sprouted, two tails now waved. It was then, that she realized that whatever the ritual months ago had started, it was not yet complete.
While the thought that she could still be changing into something Other frightened her, the second tail gave her hope. While rare, those of her kind bearing great magical strength would sometimes manifest additional tails as their power grew. Usually only one or two, but she had once even heard of a five-tail hero from her parents' stories. This second tail reassured her that whatever she was becoming, it would not change who she was. The void may have become stronger within her, but so too did her kitsune birthright.
This card represents Sharilar's farsight and her relationship with the Harrow. The fortuneteller; the oracle she was born to be, despite the changes wrought upon her.
