Last year, a friend and I fell a little bit in love with the antics of 841 the Otter, a sea otter in Santa Cruz who made news with her penchant for bullying surfers and stealing their surfboards. We made a joke about how clearly there was a fuzzy character to be made here. It took me a while, but I found a great artist in 
spunky, who helped flesh out the general idea of a cute blonde Santa Cruz beach girl and brought her to life.
Isn't she wonderful? I love the pure unhinged energy of everything in this picture so much.
( The lifeguard shork in the background is not exactly my friend's character, since she hasn't been around so much to dial in exactly what she looks like, but… definitely an homage to her. I hope she's doing OK! )
