The Red Helm Tapir is a large herbivore that wanders across the open grasslands of Southern and Western Elysium, feeding on tall grasses and shrubs.

This species usually travels in small groups alongside herds of Tapirunners. The latter have much keener senses and serve as a lookout for the former. In dangerous situations, the Red Helm Tapir will use its 5-ton bulk to try and take the threat head-on. As long as it's not taken by surprise, it stands a fighting chance at winning, especially if accompanied by a few comrades.

This herbivore is rather indifferent towards humanoids. As long as it is not bothered, it will ignore people and just lazily eat plants (as it usually does).
