Rex is a fairly tortured werewolf coming to terms with the nature of his curse, being a bit of a recluse until his majordomo/ head of house forces him to start courting. There are few wolves left and only those can protect against other night creatures within the realm. Amelia is a regular human at the beginning, she agrees to be turned after their marriage for protection.
