Original Species: Shangrila Common Wyvern
The Shangrila Common Wyvern is a medium-sized flying reptile native to the entire northern and central region of the continent. Scholars theorize that this species is the direct descendant of the main progenitor of all other Shangrila Wyverns, as it seems to be the most basal of them all. Its green and brown coloration helps it blend in with its preferred biome: the edge between forest and grassland.
In terms of combat capabilities, this species uses poison-based attacks, which include a poisonous breath weapon and a stinger at the end of its tail. The former allows it to both incapacitate larger prey and fend off threats at a distance, while the latter is a last-resort defensive weapon for when something gets the drop on it.
It is theorized that the orange coloration on this creature's tail serves as a warning to predators ("Look! My tail stands out! It's poisonous so watch out!") and as a tool for non-verbal communication between members of its species.
Due to living in a land with its larger and more formidable relatives, the Common Wyvern is aggressive by nature and very trigger-happy when it comes to threat displays and attacking would-be aggressors. Only highly skilled and powerful adventurers should ever consider approaching it (the only reason Najila is so close to it is for the sake of the research team).
