Bom on May 15, 1910 in Naranjito, Puerto Rico.
At age 16, only two years after emigraling to the United States, he was already a legend in the 51st Street flegal fighling circuit of New York. After being arrested during a police raid, coach Don Egbert paid his bail and took him under his wing. Tireless and Insatiable, he won 136 out of 151 bouts throughout his 4-year career.
In 1934, news broke out that he had continued to fight, almost dally, on 51st street. "This here is real boxing" he stated after paying his own bail.
