Slop is one of the best comics.. ever..

I concur with that sentiment.

In my thinking the comic, as an art form if about telling a story through impression. Images and dialogue taken from a series of events that provides a conduit to the lurking story that lays beneath it. So often the substance of a comic seems to be bound to that sentiment,.. "My Charktorz arez morez Awesomsomest of all! (expects for thes badguys more awesomorz in their new costume.)!!!"

It is hard to compare SLOP to the contemporary examples of comic genre. It does not have the predictable hero,.. the familiar world crisis situation,... the regular ebb and flow of studio driven production story values. It is compulsion,.. introspection, and torment laid out like a vivisection carrying along those who can see down into it's anatomy.

SLOP is perhaps one of the most compelling on going reads I have ever experienced.

I don't know. I'm not sure what criteria to apply.

I do know it makes the short list of comics I think are worth reading, so that must be good for something. The storytelling is compelling, and that - to me - is what makes a comic worth reading.
