I did another single-Pokemon playthrough, but this time, I did something a bit different... instead of playing through one of the vanilla games like in all of the previous ones of these I've done, this time I did one in a randomizer of Pokemon Emerald, with my Pokemon being an Exeggcute (who I evolved into an Exeggutor at the very end) named Rando Eggs :3
I thought it would be fun to do a single-Pokemon playthrough using one of the three randomized starters and play through the entire game with them, and in this first one I did, the three starter options I got to choose from were Exeggcute, Banette, and Dratini, and I went with Exeggcute because I've only ever used Exeggutor minimally in the past and have previously used both Banette and Dragonite before. I also didn't randomize the Pokemon's typings, evolutions, or base stats, but I did randomize their abilities and moves, so Rando Eggs ended up having Levitate as an ability (Early Bird after she evolved) and Shadow Punch, Tri Attack, and Drill Peck as her starting moves, all three of which were so good that I actually kept them for the entire game. I also found a lucky egg during the first couple hours of gameplay, which I did use, both because it made the playthrough a little bit easier and I would need to grind a bit at the end to beat the champion, and also because a lucky egg was the most fitting item to give to the egg Pokemon :3
As for how the playthrough went, it went mostly pretty smoothly, although there were a couple tough fights such as Brawly's fight with him having an Ursaring with Pin Missile that did quad damage to Rando Eggs and a trainer on victory road with a Lapras with Softboiled, Slack Off, and a full restore that took forever to beat, and while most of the league was pretty easy, I did have to grind on nearly every remaining trainer in the game to beat Wallace because he had a Typhlosion with stab Blast Burn that was also super effective against Rando Eggs and would knock her out instantly even at full health. Up to my first attempt of the league, I also hadn't found a leaf stone to evolve Rando Eggs yet, but I did find one while grinding afterward, so I decided to evolve her if I still wasn't able to beat that Typhlosion with her as an Exeggcute even after grinding, which ended up being the case, which is why I beat the game with her as an Exeggutor but played through the rest of it with her as an Exeggcute.
With this being a randomizer, there were also quite a few really funny instances, with some of my favorites being Wally's wild encounter being a Blastoise who teleported away but was still considered caught in the cutscene afterward, all of the gym leaders having the totally real trainer class of "God" and Roxanne being named God Joey (...so this is where he went after Gen 2 :3), Archie's first Pokemon very ironically being a Groudon (Maxie is going to be pissed when he finds out Archie had Groudon all along :3), and after that previous bout with Lapras, me fighting another Lapras in the trick house who instead just used Selfdestruct :3
