Asaan and Irlaan are related in the sense that this version of them is canon, whereas Irlaan is an AU variant where self-doubt and loathing won. It's a rather overt reference to the abuse I suffered from my ex and what she tried to mold me into, rather than what I knew and desired of myself. While it was not my intention at the time of creating Irlaan, I find it rather poetic when considering a number of factors from that time in my life. Probably shouldn't have deleted the journal from '15 talking about it though.
That said, here is Asaan in all their glory as drawn by the wondrous and ever-so-patient
(or Kajirra on deviantART)! I do not know if there will ever be a different artist I go to for reference sheets as she has the extraordinary ability to breathe so much life into the critter she's given to draw--no matter the species. I'm so glad I happened to stumble upon her and her work.
