That's pretty spectacular. I've always been curious how you control for stitched shots such that you don't have weird lighting issues and the like.

Shoot with the same exposure settings for each shot. Shadows from clouds can still be a nuisance, though.

Indeed they did, back in October. It's open to pedestrian traffic, as well as vehicles, but I didn't get to cross it. The road from the dam is closed so that you can drive across but have to turn around and come back, making the bridge the only way to get across the river.

Good, the amount of traffic dodging one had to do, just to see the place was awful. It was like trucking traffic too.

Actually, semi-trucks weren't allowed to go over the dam, so they were routed around further south I believe. Now that the bridge is open, they don't have to do that anymore.

I thought they were going to leave the road to the dam open for those who want to take a tour of the dam and go to the museum there.

The road to the dam is still open and a little further into Arizona, but it dead-ends at a parking lot.

Last time I was at the Hoover Dam was way back in 1981, when I was 5. I want to go there again, and to look off in the distance on the new bridge (I occasionally went to the Hoover Dam Bypass website and looked at the webcams they had up.)

The PP actually took much longer than the stitching. I use a program called PTGui for anything I need stitched and it makes short work of pretty much anything you can throw it; not even CS5's stitching compares to it.

This... is one hundred, seventy-six megapixels of pure win.
I've only ever stitched together pictures in a single row (normal panorama).
I've never tried venturing into the second dimension. Is it difficult? Maybe I should just give it a go sometime.
