Pretty sure I saw a meme like this on Facebook like a week ago, but it was closer up to the characters head showing their thoughts.

Still a pretty neat piece. Even if the roles caught me by surprise.

it was mostly really confusing for him. Even just inviting her to stay a night was a weird thing for him to do--but then he really just wanted her to make the place home (so that she wouldn't have to worry about finding a place to sleep each night). Initially, he chalked it up to just not liking the idea of her having to settle for unsafe lodgings with untrustworthy folk. But also, he just genuinely liked having her around. Which--is a really unfamiliar feeling to him, especially with someone he hadn't really gotten to know super well. He had been avoiding relationships since his previous one ended catastrophically some years ago. When he had 'fallen in love' with his ex, he was happy to be around her and interact with her and stuff, but he also became really possessive in a jealousy-motivated kind of manner. And so, he figured that's just was being in love felt like lmao. But he doesn't get possessive or jealous about Margie. He really just wanted to make sure she was safe and comfy, and really liked doing things with her and seeing her happy. And he liked how casually affectionate she was--which wasn't unique to how she treated him--she was like that with everyone. And so he was like "well, it's kinda natural that you wouldn't want to be left out in that regard. I like cuddling, it's cool. It's a platonic thing for her, and if I want that for myself I can't make it weird!!"
Except it was weird--for him. LMAO And he couldn't figure out why he was so incapable of being normal about it. It couldn't be love though, right?? cuz being in love made him stupid, paranoid, and mean.
