Oftentimes, the best thing to do is just be open and genuine, and trust others to respond in kind. It's a lesson I've tried to carry forward, best I can.

just. both a fun contrast to the "animal that has become 'more human-like'" that we just saw in eager-horizon, but also. that's a yearning we're familiar with, and a fear we're even more so. the bird is really just trying his best in a world that has so much going on at once.
also artist branching-tree is an absolute gem and we already love it. this story has so dang many awesome characters we can't help but love, please stop (please do not stop)
... this is gonna be a fun reverse rescue operation, isn't it. (... wait, wouldn't a reverse rescue operation technically be a kidnapping? either way this'll be fun)
[also we just have to say it still feels odd to read a brand-new chapter of this story on a site that isn't cohost. at least in that "this feels unfamiliar now in this context, but not in a way that'll stay like that" sense. brains are weird.]

After a couple months, I've finally caught up on reading this! Funnily (and fittingly?) enough, I dunno if I can manage to cram all my warm sentiments into words. You've crafted such a captivating world, and such compelling characters. It's amazing how clearly & convincingly you've written the ultra-specific sorts of physical disconnects and identity crises that'd come with getting transplanted into a sentient animal. As a reader, I'm amazed at how easily I can clamber into these guys' skins, and feel the existential viscera of their predicaments. The various POVs are pulled off brilliantly. We can glean so much about the world & its inhabitants from how each character "narrates," which details they prefer to focus on, how they justify their actions. Makes each of them endearingly grounded & believable, relatable even. I can hardly pick a favorite, but Ink-Talon and the bat and Verdant-Trail & Chase are up there. Archivist Sharp-Search always makes me smile, too.
This novel's got me chewing on all sorts of heavy thoughts about identity, communication, and empathy - from angles I'd never considered before. Can't speak for other readers, but it's genuinely the kind of art that expands my perspective. I don't often leave comments, but I wanted to drop in and thank you for sharing your work. Excited to see where the story's headed! You've certainly got me hooked.

I've been turning this comment over in my head since yesterday and I just want to say that I really appreciate it! It's always heartening to know that my work and all the little bits that I chose to dig into and explore are resonating with people. Thanks for reading, and I hope you continue to enjoy it!
