Every respectable spaceship should have a stardrive that can accelerate the ship to immense speeds. The Pioneer has resorted to the most common way to break the light speed barrier in the galaxy: a Warp Drive, bending spacetime around the ship in order to "cheat" the light speed limit as the relativity theory describes. It compresses space tens of thousands of times, crossing lightyears in a day while actually not even going near the speed of light. While in warp, it's always a spectacular sight, as you can see it here in flight.
