Blue Sirians are one of 3 sapient species native to the Sirius B system.
Blue Sirians are a lean species averaging 5’7”-5’9” in height. They have long ears, a narrow snout, and horizontally slit pupils; this gives them superb hearing and peripheral vision, but their vision overall is less able to pickup on details than humans. Blue Sirians are digitigrade and have three digits on their feet and four on their hands. While they do have whip-like tails, these are largely vestigial and have little use, some Blue Sirian cultures even practice docking their tails as a “coming of age” ritual. The Blue Sirians’ most distinctive feature however is their deep blue skin, even Blue Sirian blood is a vibrant blue color due to being copper-based. Blue Sirians also have no hair or fur on their bodies, it’s also a somewhat common mutation for some Blue Sirians to have no fingernails either. A trait that is ubiquitous among Blue Sirians is the electronic implant typically seen on either the left or right temple between the eye and ear, this implant is an electronic transmitter which allows the individual to directly link to and control electronic devices with their mind. A common upgrade for this device allows it also serve as a transmitter, allowing sensor data from drones and other devices to be transmitted directly into the person’s mind, some of these are so sensitive that they can pickup the electro-chemical discharges of nearby synapses, effectively giving the Blue Sirian in question the ability to read the thoughts of those around them. The neural implant is considered so commonplace that many outsiders will forget that this isn’t natural to the species.
One thing of note about the Blue Sirians is the accelerated rate they developed technologically, going from the first appearance of anatomically modern Blue Sirians, to Neolithic, to Bronze Age, to interplanetary in a span of 10,000 years. A huge leap when compared to, say, humans, who are currently taking a more typical 300,000 years time just to reach the very tentative beginnings of interplanetary travel (sending unmanned ground probes to other planets and manned missions to Earth’s natural satellite is considered “a start”). This huge technological slingshot is due to the Blue Sirians not being the first species to develop on their homeworld. Another species had reached the interplanetary age previously but were mysteriously wiped out without any survivors, the ruins and relics of that previous civilization were what allowed the Blue Sirians to rapidly advance their own civilization to the point that they were able to encounter the other Sirian species and achieve interstellar travel.
However these technological leaps are not without consequence, their social advancement was not as fast-paced and has resulted in a people that are, considered more archaic than other species at their technological level. Blue Sirians are frequently accused of being belligerent, head-strong, tribalistic, and superstitious by other species, and they aren’t necessarily wrong.
It certainly doesn’t help their interstellar relations that the majority of current Blue Sirian tribes and kingdoms are part of the cultural purity coalition (CPC), a treaty agreed upon by the signees to effectively police other species and stop the more egregious cases of cultural meddling. To say this has made them a few enemies would be an understatement.
