Kodak Ultramax

Got a roll at the pharmacy and was baffled by the terrible packaging that was just two colors and gave no indication what's inside or what its for. So I doodled a bunch all over it in some design patterns styled after plenty of 80s and 90s photo film cassette boxes, including the photo example starring moi on vacation posing with the cruise ship.
Read it like the dots are anything from bright bold polka dots to sparkles to use of a holofoil, and fill in the colors to theme.
that bit of writing at the top there is one of those mail-in rebate promotions where you receive a free blank videotape in the format of your choice: VHS, VHS-C, Video 8, Betamax, or miniDV. In this case Kodak would send one of their stock rather than one from Fuji or Maxell or JVC, etc.

you see the box on a shelf at a middle distance like you would walking by things you're not looking for.
what the fuck is that. what the fuck is in that. the eye wanders right off of it because there's nothing to make it linger and nothing that visually (FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC FILM, AN ITEM USED TO CREATE VISUAL IMAGES) identifies it as anything but yellow and blue box.
its bad at being packaging. completely useless for identification or promotion. two random ass colors that tell you nothing with zero indication of anything about the item is just about the worst possible packaging. i guess the shades used are attractive but that means diddly squat without any other element to give it context. oh the words? you're a new film shooter, remember, you kinda know what a kodak is but ultramax is foreign to you. it looks like a box that might have some chapsticks or a bottle of aspirin in it at a pharmacy, which is where it is being sold of course. we really need to hold these lazy corporate dumbfucks to higher standards so they stop committing sales suicide because they can't seem to understand what their company is and does.
