For September I decided to draw my favorite Egyptian god from Yu-Gi-Oh, Slifer the sky dragon for my Year of the dragon project. While the Egyptian gods aren't nearly as all powerful in modern Yugioh, that doesn't take away just how awesome the anime made them look, even summoning one of these guys was a spectacle that darkened the sky and caused giant eruptions of light. I really liked Yugi's duel against strings where he found a way around Slifer's immense power and broken anime effect by taking advantage of that same effect to get Strings to deck himself out, earning Slifer for himself. Another cool thing I found out about Slifer is that alternative artwork for the spell "Raigeki" shows that Slifer was responsible for the giant lightning bolt depicted in the artwork, I guess they're called gods for a reason.
