This reminds me of the college in Indiana Jones for some reason.

Interesting idea. Scents and pheromones does provide important cues in the communication of my fictional canids. While I don't think it would have been too sophisticated, due to limits in the chemical and biological knowlege on the part of canids at the point of time when the character lived, I can see the character providing some level of aid in regards to olfactory communication.
