The Hybrid Gauss Shotgun uses a supportive rail-system to propel projectiles to a higher velocity than normally.
The rail-system does not work as standalone and the gun is still reliant on conventional propellant.
It uses caseless ammo and therefore doesn't need an ejection port.

So I'm having these made for my characters, yes. They are part of a Private Military Corporation set in a spacefaring sci-fi universe. I wanted to give them something that looked sorta "near future" in design. It's an aesthetic I enjoy. You can see a bunch of commissions of my characters in my favorites. Not much of them in canon setting though. Part of why I wanted these weapons.
