Been sad lately, which means I've been filling my sketchbook with snakes. Figured I'd do some based on elements. Here's water.

Actually no, just pencils! I used the good ones though, haha. And I'm feeling better today than I was the day I made these, so there's that. I draw snakes in my sketchbooks when I'm sad because snakes are cute to me and I love them, and I can't always have my pet snake with me when sad things happen y'know?
I love snakes a lot, so I completely understand. There is something about the face of a Ball Python on a Hognose that just melts my heart. I feel the same way when I watch our crested geckos lick their own eyes, it cures sadness like nothing else in this world! Drawing is such a great outlet too!
Colored pencil? You definitely know how to use them, I am beyond impressed! I like to do Prismacolor portraits occasionally and I swear my colors never look this creamy and vibrant!

Haha, thank you! I am a bit impressed myself - I was using some prismacolors, but they break a lot and can be a pain to work with, so I save them for the drawings that are either commissions or for doodles I'm real proud of and/or made because I was feeling low. I definitely think this one came out the nicest, for sure!
The others were a mix of both the prismacolor and the usual pencils, partly for the color variety and partly because sharpening a pencil 600 times just to get it to cooperate is a level of patience I can't apply to all of em, lol
I think some of it also comes down to technique. Mostly just noticing how your color pencils respond to certain degrees of pressure. Try using white pencils, they're great for blending color and adding a little more smoothness to your work!
