An idea I had for a dnd monster, since hey I’m pretty sure there’s actually nothing that uses a hive mind in the game. And it’s kind of silly that they don’t

-The Spiders are Medium Sized creatures, around the same size as an average human.
-They’re more isolated creatures, living by themselves in caves
-They have a potent venom, which if a creature is bitten, they’ll be paralyzed before soon succumbing to its effects trapping the victim within the hive mind of the spider
-Victims will begin to produce a less potent version of the venom, usually through saliva
-Victims will obey the orders of the spider, in a zombie like trance, as they are sent out to infect others.
-At some point the spider will call all back that it’s infected so it can feed/wrap up some for later and the process repeats

Of course some creatures are naturally immune to the effects of the venom, I don’t have it entirely figured out, but here’s what I have so far.
-Creatures without blood, since without a bloodstream no way the venom can spread throughout the body
-Constructs and other inanimate objects may have been brought to life with magic
-Creatures larger than the spider
-Creatures with a certain level of natural armor (Tough to pierce through. Though I haven’t decided what number it should be. Probably around mid teens)
