Ooohhhh, very nice. :D

I always kind of like this external cargo concept for space craft. Although micro meteorite impacts could be problematic. But if there is some sort of shied tech involved that would be far less of a problem.

Worst case scenario, ablative cargo Pods! Expensive, but if it keeps your life support on the inside rather than outside and prevents nasty holes in your hull...

Depends on what/where you're delivering. Red Suns with stations inside the corona. Wouldn't be worse then some Nebulas.

Of course, with ablative armor, you can drop them with a load of marines/mechs where wanted but can't forget the manuevering thrusters

The main problem with ablative armor is the ablative bit. Leaving you wondering if you have enough left for one more dip.

Of course if you're depending on shields, then you have to plan for the power needs for your time you need their added protection.
