Here you can see the hospital that was hit and then caught fire. There is a 6 mile by 3/4 mile stretch of nothing but this. Piles of rubble. This was taken three days after the tornado, you can see that they've cleared the streets so that people can return to their 'homes' to try to salvage anything. I friend of mine found an X-ray from the hospital all the way over in Springfield and I found a piece of an airplane.
I was out right after the tornado, 20 minutes or so, and stayed out that night and the following days/nights digging through rubble. I found a child under a refrigerator and with some other samaritan freed the child, but then there was so much else to do and so much chaos. I gave bloody people rides to the nearest hospital (obviously not the one pictured) some were pretty bad. One woman had her arms heavily lacerated and it was obvious her arms and hand bones were shattered, she kept asking me about the apartment building her daughter lived in over and over and over again (she was deeply in shock) I did not have the heart to tell her that the apartment her daughter lived in was completely leveled. I washed glass out of people's faces and hands. I watched thr main hospital burn. A lot of people are missing, a lot of people have been found dead.
For the most part now three days later I'm helping chainsaw the downed trees and further clean road access. I don't know if we will find more survivors buried in the mess. I pray anyone trapped is still alive and we will find them.

You would have thought that living in Iowa where tornadoes are normal to they would have figured out that if any storm is overhead signal is basically nill. I had the same problem up here in Belton trying to get ahold of my mom and step dad when the sirens were going off here.. Didn't really even have a good house line till the street wasn't flooded.. it was weird.
And it was bad since I have no human medical training. I can suture, but I obviously had no stitching supplies. Other than that and animal blood draws all I can do is CPR on dogs and cats, so in the thick of it that night I was basically really useless when it would have counted. I'm thinking about taking some EMT training classes to be of more help for situations like this in the future (not that I plan on being inside more tornadoes).
The fucking WBC...what the hell are they coming to bitch about this for. I swear to god, when I get the cash, I´m gonna go to wherever the hell they are, with a M4A1 Assault rifle (that I will also get), and shoot them all. I´ll at least go to prison knowing I did some good in this world.
Anyway, I´m gonna irritate my parents until they give me some cash to donate... These kinds of scenes...they make me want to cry, and do whatever I can to help... You are a hero Deo, for what you´re doing to help. Godbless you.
