Father Montague - The High Preist Who Lived A Thousand Years
"Why Lord? Why was I given this role? I never wanted this... I never asked for this... My so-called religion is just a means to control the masses. To make them feel better for a little while. It's all a lie... and yet here I am, spreading lies like I'm spread the gospel. Giving the people false hope whilst I sit comfortably in this chapel growing older and fatter by the day. Hmpf... I suppose that makes me the King of Lies... All I truly want... is to see my beloved again... Am I not even allowed that? Is this... my punishment?"
So I was browsing the interwebs and came across a character from Eureka Seven (specifically the movie reimagining "Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution", which BTW is horrible, don't watch it), and kinda got some feelings. And ya'll know what happens when I get inspired. So I decided to make myself a pathetic old priest character!
Ladies and gentlemen and everyone in-between and out in space, I present: Father Montague! He's an old high priest of an unspecified religious order that rules the land, spreading the word of god to his followers! All he asks in return is your devotion to the lord and an offering to help further his services. At least, that's the story the church tells the people to cover up their obvious corruption. Like any "good" religious order in a fictional setting, they're using the people's devotion to god as a means to cover up some shady practices, using our old priest here as a figure-head. The worst part is that Montague is somewhat complicit in all this, using said offerings to indulge in his insatiable appetite for food and sex... a vice that has recently started to take it's toll on him in his old age as illness and weakness are finally starting to claim him.
However, there is one, darker secret to his rule that he doesn't know: his family lineage is actively keeping him alive. Using a combination of nanomachines, oxygen & IV tubes, and some unsavory research on the Tree of Life, the religious order (which is helmed by his own descendants) are keeping his frail body alive despite his failing health. In fact, with every meal or sexual activity, Montague hopes that it will be the one that will finally cause him to croak. However, his followers are always on standby to administer some life-giving medicine and promptly return him to his "throne", which is often hooked up to oxygen tanks, IV containers, and nanomachine colonies (which isn't pictured here because I suck at mechanical design). However, he has gotten so old that the days, months and years have begun to blur, making him think he's still in his late 80s or 90s; in reality, he's reaching his millennial birthday. As for why he's being kept alive? Well, that's a topic that has yet to be written...
In any case, make of it what you will and enjoy!
