Austin, Hot Stuff, and Marmaduke Mouse, 23 September 2024
Look at this, I try for once to say something in earnest and I get static from 1950s comic book characters.
Well. Past week or so FurAffinity's admin have started booting adult-baby/diaper-lover artists off the site. This is wrong and they should not be doing that. Diaperfurs are sharing a source of joy, despite taking a lot of hassle from people who haven't thought about why past a received attitude of ``oh, ewww''.
If you're squicked by something, that's fine, we're all squicked by something. But don't go picking on people without reason. Diaperfurs get treated by furries the way furries were treated by the Internet in 2004, with a mix of thoughtlessness and mockery. They're particularly vulnerable to social disdain. And everyone should be worried when a source of power --- even petty power like 'moderator of a furry art web site' --- goes after the particularly vulnerable.
So, this picture. As I try to say, I'm not an AB/DL person. But I am glad that I stopped to examine my received, reflexive disdain and realized it was built on bad grounds. Since getting over my issue, multiple friends have opened up to me about their AB/DL leanings, and it's been wonderful being trusted into that side of my friends' lives. And if I'm to choose between people sharing joys and people stomping on the vulnerable, I choose the joy.
Hot Stuff is, of course, the tuff little devil from Harvey Comics and I guess he's actually wearing asbestos shorts or something? Doesn't matter, everyone in the world thinks of them as diapers. Marmaduke Mouse, who looks like the Jerry Mouse off the cover of a public domain cartoons VHS, was the star of a longrunning series for Quality Comics. He was always an adult and wore a diaper his whole production run for whatever reason ( http://toonopedia.com/marmadkm.htm or see the originals at https://comicbookplus.com/?cid=1318 ).
Rendered Austin a little more realistically than usual, to stand out from the cartoony nature of Hot Stuff and Marmaduke, for some reason. Mostly I wanted to render the eyes like that.

Thank you! And, thanks, it's fun having old comic strip characters mocking me.
Clever idea for Marmaduke Mouse! I'm a little curious what the actual reason was, although I wouldn't be surprised if it was as simple as the first thoughts were that he'd be a kid character and then they had scripts where that didn't matter and after that they forgot.

Yeah personally most of the stuff that appears in the NSFW feed of FA squicks me, but obviously it gets some folks here, to fulfill whatever desires they want.
Poorly treating one group of furry's because they think that bothers "everyone else" is just annoying as AF. Anyway thanks for posting this with your thoughts.

Oh dear yes. I don't think it's just that he was much larger than his father but diapered and very-young-kid-coded. I think there's something about the personality type that grates on me and, I assume, other characters. I have a similar reaction to the vintage comic strip Little Iodine and to the character both guys are imitating, Baby Snooks.
