This was the sketch I posted on my sketch blog today. It's sort of a comics sketch blog--the idea being that it's devoted to daily "quick" sketches I'm doing to try and get faster and more efficient at doing comic-related sketches, so that I can start doing artist alley sittings at comic cons. i need to get faster! this one for example took about 50 minutes--WAY too long.
If you want to check out the whole blog (keep in mind--it's still fairly new) here's the URL:

i actually bumped into peter laird one time at the airport (they are 2 of my child hood hero's) I wanted to stalk him and ask a bunch of questions but i was working and couldn't leave my spot. TMNT is the reason i liked to draw. I used to read there older comics and was fascinated by there art style and particularly how they would put all the sound effects above each panel instead of within it. It was very manga like for its time.
PS i forgive you for not making it Don. We still friends.

Well, going by at least this original press release, it seems he will be quite involved this time around: http://www.comicsalliance.com/2011/.....new-comic-idw/
To me, this is a good thing. I always preferred Eastman over Laird, and seeing him back in the saddle after so many years is just the kind of change I needed after so many years' worth of Laird arguably doing more to hold the franchise back.

I never met either but played their game way back when. I made definitely sure I copied nothing from their game into mine. I never got to see more of their comic though, but was able to see them again when they sold out to a badly done animation for Saturday mornings. Ah the lure of money, I almost sold out last year but didn't, (mostly the guy that I got interested in maybe buying it on a 50-50 deal was fired from Radical Publishing). I still might be able to print and publish mine on my own before I'm dead but that might still be some years away, sigh. Maybe through digital transfer through a Chinese printing company I was told about.
I think I liked Leonardo the best too, I couldn't remember clearly before I though Don used the two Katanas.

Donatello used a Bo staff. He was the smart one, Leo was the leader, Mikey was the party boy (and used nunchuks) and Raph was the brooding, angry one--he used sai weapons. They each had their own color too--but originally they all wore red masks. Needless to say--my faves were the older versions. I'm becoming a purest in my old age!
I was going by the covers on the old ones, and they published a reprint book of the early comic in color. And maybe they were still all red in the first series...I don't remember. They were all red in the first movie. Not actually sure when they each got their official colors. too long ago....
