Original Species: Striped Lagolope
The Striped Lagolope is a smaller relative to the Common Lagolope of Eastern Elysium. This medium-sized herbivore eeks out a living by foraging for any edible plants available in its harsh desert home. It can often be spotted following Gigatusk Boars and feeding off the scraps they leave behind (it is a viable strategy, considering that the boars tend to target tuberous plants that are rich in moisture and nutrients). The Striped Lagolope gains most of its moisture from the plants it eats; those often include tubers and cacti.
The reason as to why this Lagolope species is striped is currently not fully understood. One theory suggests that the stripes help in thermoregulation, which is crucial in such a hot environment.
Striped Lagolope often travel in small herds of around 5 to 8 individuals. This ensures that there's always at least one pair of eyes and ears on the lookout for predators.
