Obscure and Forbidden Magicks, Hemomancy
There are some rare schools and abilities of magic on Eidon which are either misunderstood or simply considered too dangerous to be openly allowed to practice, such as necromancy for example. One of the sub schools of necromancy is hemomancy, blood magic, which few ever manage to master or even survive as it is quite the double edged sword that can be more harmful to the practicioner than their intended target. While necromancy is a more unatural school of magic which draws from the realm of death, hemomancy is somewhat of an opposing one as it uses the essence of life and one's own life force and it is both similar and opposite to aquamancy as it is with necromancy so while it is mainly dark magic it is often called grey magic as it is inbteween dark and light and hemomancy can be used for good more so than necromany.
Offensively hemomancy is quite risky when using one's own blood, but on a battlefield where the ground is soaked in blood a hemonacer is at their most powerful using the blood of many, hence why evil hemomancers often perform human (or beast folk) sacrifice and bloodletting rituals to increase their power. More skilled hemomancers can manipulate the blood of others to harm or heal them or even control others like a puppet and turn them into what is called a blood thrall, though the duration of this can be rather short it is useful as a surprise attack among the opponent's party turning them against eachother. Hemomancer healing abilities range from syphoning poisons and disease out of someone's blood or sealing their wounds faster to stop blood loss, but the opposite is also possible opening wounds more or preventing blood from clotting and closing a wound or forcing tainted blood into wounds. When using their own blood a hemomancer's magic is still quite potent but one can only use so much of their own blood without risk of losing one's life, fortunately most hemomancers replenish their blood suppy at a much faster pace and even severe blood loss can be recovered from within days compared to months at a natural rate. Hemomancers can also replanish their own vitality simply by walking through blood (hence why many prefer to go barefoot or wear sandals with thin soles), regardless hemomancers aren't particularly sought after as healers in adventurign parties because of their methods, but when there is an epidemic villages will often call for a hemomancer to cure the sick...or they will blame the hemomancer for any disease outbreak in the first place.
A sign of a powerful hemomancer are thick and clearly visible bloodvessels on their arms and legs (unless they are coverd by fur or feathers ofcourse) this allows hemomancer to more easily use their blood for spells and abilities by cutting themselves. So it takes a certain kind of person to be a great hemomancer as it requires literal self sacrifice during battle as they will cut and claw themselves to release more blood and life essence to power themselves, but on the upside a hemomancer will never have permanent scars due to their accelerated healing rate unless the flesh is flayed from their bones or a limb is lost and regrown using the blood and flesh of others to restore their own. This can also be used to restore a person to life if their body has been destroyed but their bones are intact and their spirit hasn't left the mortal plane yet the flesh of other creatures can be used to regrow their body or a limb, but there is a risk that the revived might become insane when remembering their death vividly so it is not a way many would prefer to be revived with.
A very rare ability for hemomancers is blood shifting, where by absorbing an amount of blood from anther living being the hemomancer is able to "learn" and take on that creature's form and use it's abilities, however it will not be an exact copy of the being as the new form will be the same color as the blood shifter's natural hair or fur color which means they might still stand out due to their different color. The amount of time one can remain transformed varies on the skill of the user but it can be anything between a few minutes and a day, and a permanent transformation appears to be impossible and perhaps something only can be done by deities, as is assumed is the case with the Nemians being granted Neme's image.
There aren't many notable hemomancers but there is one case that comes to mind, Tsunagi the red witch, who was thought to be a Vossen mage by witnesses but actually turned out to be a Volf and Vossen cross who sought revenge on her Volfen masters for a lifetime of abuse as a slave. She was eventually stopped and brought to justice by princess Eilishe of Ahk'Ahrneb and her Vossen companion who discovered her own blood shifting ability during that battle. Dragonhand Azya might perhaps also be considered a blood shifter, but her powers are drawn from the demonic realm so it is uncertain if this theory is accurate, even more so because her partly transformation appears to be permanent. The Nagassa are believed to have used a primal form of blood magic which over time corrupted them and caused their downfall so hemomancy might be one of the oldest forms of magic on Eidon if the Nagassa did indeed use it thousands of years ago.
