Rowrbrazzle Sampler 1984-1991 cover
A real blast from the past, this turned up on EBay along with a bunch of other extremely obscure furry stuff from the 1980's and early 90's. I assume these books are from an estate sale, since whoever had them originally had to have picked them up at some of the very early ConFurences or ComiCons, and I doubt they'd suddenly want to sell them now. Some of this stuff is so rare even I don't have copies of it, and that includes this book. Sorry the picture quality is so poor, but I had to grab it off of the EBay photo.
I'm pretty sure I have Salem posing there with a Lamborghini because I had a calendar featuring Lamborghini cars at the time. The bottom panel features my Squonk character from the Genesis song. The other two are just generic characters.
Here's a link to the auctions: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?ite.....sn=zacharan296
I personally think the prices on everything are ridiculous, but I guess if you can't get that stuff elsewhere, maybe someone would be interested in paying it...

I definitely need to listen to that interview! Before I'd actually heard the song from A Trick of the Tail, I'd actually read about it from both Native American legends, and the later lumberjacks' tales from the early 20th Century. But Genesis covered it in a rather touching way. I think it represented the embodiment of hopelessness, sadness and despair. They were very easy to catch, but simply dissolved into a pool of tears when captured.
When I was in high school, back in the mid-Eighties, the Lamborghini Countach was one of my favorite cars. And every time I hear "Squonk", I think of your sinewy critter. Reading your "Blacklight" arc introduced me to 70s-Era Genesis, through the back door of Tony Bank's "A Curious Feeling".
I still very much appreciate that.
I still have a bit of fan art floating in my head inspired by that. A very particular composition.
Maybe I'm good enough now to actually hash it out on the tablet.
Maybe.

The collection does look a lot like a cleanup/estate sale. When I see things like this I want to know more of the story behind it. Is it someone we might have known? A quiet closet furry.. There doesn't look like there is much newer stuff there but the collection including classic Disney and random animal themed things looks like a now departed friend's..
(And your in there with Terrie Smith and Michele Light too! Truly owned by someone with taste.)

And here I thought the Squonk came from Steely Dan's Any Major Dude.
They are, for example, selling a 3-pack of Lego-compatible building bases for $18.00 + $16.00 USPS. Not even a name brand. The same size plate at MALL*WART is $5.79 to $7.59 each, so 3 Lego name brand ones for the same price, pick it up instead of paying the post office!

Yes, it's from Robcat, who passed recently.
I did a video on my YouTube about this
[I've been doing some videos on furry history]
Anyway, I bought from this seller, and in one of the books (Midnight Sonata 1)
Was a letter from Mark Barnard to Jed Martinez, (Robcat) talking about that series beginning.
There were also many taipan universe issues, some I bought and relisted now.
Anyway, I watched Robcats account for years, I went to ask him, "Hey, why'd you sell all this? Just wondering." And saw he'd passed....

OK, that makes sense. Thanks for letting me know who's estate it was from. Seeing the various signatures should have clued me in-- Jed was always really big on getting autographs. I thought for a moment it might've been from
saara, but he was a bit of an art snob, and I didn't think he'd actually shell out money to buy some of the stuff pictured there.

About 2/3 of those pictures are from my personal sketchbook that I brought to conventions in the 1990's, and so have not been posted online. Most of the rest are from fan art people have sent me over the years, plus some pictures I commissioned. Those are the ones you're most likely to find posted. But if you're interested in any particular image, I should be able to tell you who did it and where it came from.
