King Marton is an elf who has reigned since his father King Arronel the Younger retired some 200 years ago. At 700 years old, Arronel is slightly jealous of his son. Marton has expanded the borders of the Kingdom of Deshoona. Land area has increased by over 50%. His new navy, in concert with the army they inherited from the Late King Arronel the Elder has even added a small offshore/coastal sea and its many islands, as well as several offshore islands. (Think: Puget Sound plus a few bits 1/5 to 1/3 the size of Vancouver Island) Marton's popularity with his subjects has done nothing but improve over the years. Law code reforms and taking over neighboring lands run by cruel tyrants and vicious warlords, thus improving the lives of his subjects (both new and existing) has greatly improved his standing in their eyes.
The staff he carries is a souvenir from a military campaign from just before he ascended to the Throne. The Dragon Staff offers its wielder protection from physical and magical attacks.
