The following day after Zecora’s mischief making in Ponyville, an incredibly angry Twilight Sparkle stormed over to her house, ready to give her a piece of her mind. She thought she could trust Zecora with the mask, but she was wrong. She PROMISED her she wouldn’t wear it, but she did anyway. “I understand that you are upset, and my decision I fully regret. A promise to you I did indeed make, which not even a minute later I chose to break.”
Twilight Sparkle wanted to yell her tail off at Zecora. She wanted to SCREAM at her for hours on end… but she didn’t… she couldn’t… But why? Why couldn’t she? Because she did the EXACT same thing. She too promised to look after it, to be careful with it, to NEVER wear it… and she did, anyway. It was also because of her that everyone else wore the mask, too (except Pinkie, who had before Twilight). The fault was not Zecora’s, it was her own.
Now they needed to decide, YET AGAIN, what to do with the mask. But where to we put it so no one can get it? Who do we give it to, to watch over it? Should we even give it to ANYONE? Then the answer hit her: Princess Celestia! We’ll give the mask to her to seal away! The next day Twilight sent the mask to Princess Celestia in a special package, bearing a message warning of the danger of the mask, but NOT describing what it can do. Twilight felt “The less said about what this mask does to anyone else, the better. Let’s just hope she’ll take my word on this.”
For a while it seemed like the plan had worked. A whole week had gone by, and there were no signs of ANY mask activity. Twilight also learned enough from this to send a new Friendship Report, describing about how while it’s important to be yourself, restraint is necessary from time to time,. All would have gone perfectly, if Celestia hadn’t chosen to fly down and get the Report again, just as Twilight and Pinkie had brought up the mask in conversation, which she inadvertently listened in on.
Celestia THEN remembered that another Gala was a few nights away… and they were always so BORING without Twilight & her friends… Thankfully, she now had the PERFECT way to liven things up…
