Such a beautiful setting, and I absolutely love how they did his fur! Most definitely going to be my new banner!

You pause your journey through the underground caverns, stopping at the side of the glowing river for a short rest. As you reach down to scoop up some of the crystal clear, bright water, something makes you pause. Movement, further down the river. Where two short cliffs flank either side of the cyan water, a large, fallen log spans the gap. You fall silent as you see him. Easily balancing on the center of the log, seemingly perfectly between the two banks of the river, stands a strange creature.
He resembles a panther at first, but as you look on, the differences become obvious. He's massive, maybe three meters nose to hip, and has an extra pair of legs right behind his front two, giving him six in total. His coat is a deep, almost black blue with speckles across it much like a jaguar, the dark shade contrasting with the illuminated foliage to his back, though you'd imagine he blends in quite well when out of the open. Even from this distance, you can see how sleek and plush it looks, despite its color being a non-reflecting matte. With all the glowing parts surrounding him, it almost seems that the creature is cloaked in a shadow. The thick coat must be an adaptation to the cooler, underground temperatures, and despite the potential danger of the beast, you can't help but imagine how wonderfully soft it must feel.
Two tendrils sweep out from his back, perhaps helping him to balance, perhaps standing ready to strike at anything foolish enough to attack him. He stands perfectly motionless for the few moments that it took you to observe the unique sight, but soon enough, his long, thick tail begins to sway behind him, the feline-like creature sniffing at the air and scanning his surroundings.
The last thing you notice are those piercing eyes, one a golden yellow, the other an emerald green, both glowing brightly. You notice them just as they fall upon you. They seem to glow brighter as they bore into you, burning intelligence clear in them.
A curious look crosses the beast's face as you stand stock still, hoping to remain unseen, but there's no doubt that he recognizes you as separate from the foliage around you. A flash of his teeth in what you could only describe as a small grin is the last you see of him before he leaps off the log, into the thick foliage on your side of the river. A few seconds. That was all you had to soak in every detail of the beast, but you feel it burned into your memory already.
A distance rustling is all you hear before things go quiet again, nothing but small noises from the local fauna. You don't know where he is. You don't know what he wants, or whether he's even intelligent. All you know is that the beast is a little closer to you than he was a minute ago. A small shiver runs down your spine, and it isn't from the cooler temperatures.
Somehow, you know that you'll get a chance to have another look at him, and very soon...
