Uploading these now, it jarred my memory of where I was, what emotions I was feeling, and challenging the uncertainty facing my future at the time. I remember it clearly now, having just gone on vacation to visit my family in Kentucky right after doing Midwest Fur Fest in two thousand twenty-two.
But back home things were changing; with me expressing interest to attain a job title that I had but lost several years ago, seeing the opportunity as other employees moved on themselves and thinking that now it was the time to make my own move and fill one of those in house vacancies.
And then basically being told that I had no hope of ever getting it back sitting where I was and the only way to get it back was to take a job transfer elsewhere to a different facility northward, and that process was still in progress through emails back and forth with recruiters while I was going to the con, and then following up while I was on vacation.
In Kentucky I got the firm offer letter saying that the transfer was set to happen and all I had to do was say yes, and embark on an uncertain future.
I accepted.
And the start date was January first.
I'd leave the facility where I'd literally started my career, and had been a fixture at for eleven years and feeling like I had filled a critical space doing things that no one else wanted to be doing, and venture off on my own elsewhere.
Not going to lie, my eyes were filled a little with tears as I stepped away from my desk and a familiar work environment for the last time.
On a visit several months later, my desk still remained empty and my position was never back-filled with someone else. Probably a testament to how niche a thing that I was doing around the place since no one else could just easily replacement and do what I had been doing.
Of course now I'm finally getting around to posting this in two thousand twenty-four. Job career is going good, and while the uncertainties are still there from time to time, where I'm at now is feeling familiar now as I adapt to this places quirks.
But besides all of that, I was still on vacation, and what better way to celebrate something like this? Why, dumping a fuckton of cash towards an artist that I've really really really wanted to get a commission from for a while, and do so with reckless abandon!
AgroPuer loves-loves-loves to draw 'taurtrains; in fact in her commission information a 'taurtrain gets several pairs of legs for free before any additional sets start costing extra!
Of course, what I wanted went well beyond that, I wanted to be a hundred legged with twenty-five horses to myself, representing one-tenth the overall length of my true length at two hundred fifty bodies long. AgroPuer wasn't cheap to commission at all, but the end result was worth it and I've no regrets at all about it.
