Once the in system freighter reached its destination the correct cargo modules would need to be removed and possibly new modules inserted into the framework. Like the owners of the freighter, the people in charge of the freight stations will desire to move the cargo through their terminals in the most efficient, safe and economical way.
This vessel I called the Squid. It is designed specifically to remove and install cargo frameworks and cargo modules from the freighters. Using the four arms and centerline connector they can push and pull modules from either one ship to another. If the stations is the final destination the modules may brought inside the station or if the contents are not bothered by space vacuum they may be parked in specific location orbit around the habitat/ station/ planet until they later needed and retrieved.
The semicircular spheres on both sides of the Squid with their multiple aperture nozzles are the main thrusters. Each aperture has a nozzle that reaction mass can vented to provide varying degrees of thrust. There are also two thrusters on the top and bottom of the craft. These things are not fast. Instead they are designed for precise handling.
To assist with maneuvering the modules a Squids carry a collection, usually not more than four, of robotic craft called Squid Babies. These go and clamp to the module/ framework and provide additional thruster locations for the Squid. The Babies may function independent or under direct command of the crew on the Squid. When not in use they attach directly to the Squid. Under emergency situations the station or habitat may remotely control or send commands to the Squid Babies.
