it took AGES, but this boy is finally here!!

This piece was particularly challenging because there's no definitive 'one way' to depict earth elements in traditional Japanese and Chinese paintings. Unlike other elements, where fire or water are clearly stylized, earth isn't shown with just gems or crystals (many of my patrons suggested them, although I really wanted to stay consistent and true to the traditional source material). In these paintings, earth is represented through rocks, boulders, mountains, vast grassy plains, and the occasional towering trees.
Mainly mountains. x_x

With that in mind, I focused on capturing the raw, grounded power of earth.

Personality-wise, this Kitsune is eldest of his siblings, commands the power of stone and root with quiet authority. He's a bit cold and distant, and he rarely speaks, each word deliberate, as steady and unyielding as the mountains. Focused solely on his domain, he protects the balance of nature with the patience and power of the earth itself.
