This explanation sounds spot-on. My Little Pony is really kinda like a child. A smart, well-drawn child with enthusiasm and cupcakes!
I still think of Pinkie Pie's cupcakes song when I hear/read the word "cupcakes", btw, so read that word with Pinkie's enthusiasm. I will never read that fanfic, because every warning seemed absolutely sincere.
The combination of innocence AND being good strengthens people's friendship with it and makes us want to protect it like Fluttershy protects HER friends.

Oh, I wasn't trying to say goodbye or anything. I was just saying I truly appreciate it that someone -especially here on FA- stays true to the characters and doesn't try to force em into themes / target audiences that they just simply weren't meant for.
