This is a work that mixes semi realism and impressionism. Inspired by the works of my Uncle Rodger. This is both a work to celebrate his memory as well as continue his joy. Painting was one of his greatest joys and I think I have him to thank for my own love of art.


One of his most meaningful paintings to me was of one feather in a dusty sunrise/sunset sort of lighting. I wanted to capture it and show these feathers against a vibrant sunrise to not just to emulate and honor his work. But also to symbolize how this spirit and knowldge will always live on through every life left behind.


He was one of the most prolific tribe members to me- always smiling, laughing, sharing words or stories of the tribe, or sharing his love of art. I loved my visits with him and will forever cherish those memories.
