These text ovals, being so oval-shaped (not "squashed" on both sides to square them slightly), leave a lot of ugly wasted space especially when paired with rectangular text boxes.

Sorry for the inconvenience, it does happen due to the composition of the original language's characters (Chinese) they are laid out similarly to Japanese, vertical layout of text is always classic.
