Original Species: Red Scorcher
The Red Scorcher is an aggressive, predatory wyvern native to Shangrila. It inhabits open grasslands where it can freely use its fiery breath to take down even larger prey, such as Grand Herbiverns. Whether it's for hunting or defending itself from larger predators, this ill-tempered wyvern makes extensive use of its fire, making it difficult to study (without taking too much risk, that is).
What is known about the habits of this species is that it shows a strong preference for cooked or charred meat. Even after its prey dies, the Scorcher will continue breathing fire at the corpse to process the meat. It will then use its powerful claws to rip open the carcass and feed on the softer meat within.
This wyvern has a surprisingly weak bite force and thus is incapable of making full use of the carcasses it feeds on, eating only the softer, cooked parts. Tougher parts are left behind making a good meal for the local scavengers.
