It was late 2020, Prince Antonio would fly again with the goal of reaching the stratosphere in one of the aircraft recently acquired by the kingdom, from the Fleur de Liz Republic… Coincidentally, it was a demonstration for us, the students of aeronautical mechanics, that everything can be achieved with effort and dedication.
Prince Aurelio Antonio Vulpes Alba, from Patagones and the End of the World, or simply Antonio, as he wants to be called, is a skilled fighter pilot and parachutist… and he doesn't miss an opportunity to fly his planes, especially the Dassault Mirage IIIE, which is his favorite, although he is trained for several other models and brands.
The surprise was, coincidentally, that moments before his flight, he called me directly, surprising me:
- Come here Foyel!, was the order he gave me as he walked down the hall before entering the meeting room, which he was attending.
- You will be in the photo with me, ask your friend for one of those helmets and come!, he told me when I arrived. The photographers were attentive, and the prince pointed to one of them, who immediately approached us;
- How can I help you, Your Majesty?, said the photographer
- A copy of the photo for this student, that's all. I'll pay for it, put the photo on my account.
- As you request, Your Serene Lord, said the photographer.
And it is there that the prince and I posed together, having a nice memory of that moment, of one of the stratospheric flights he made, and we were all witnesses.
And it was a pleasant memory that I came out with a pilot's helmet and dress uniform, which demonstrated even more that the Prince often and in a funny way broke protocol...

El principe y yo
Era finales de 2020, el Príncipe Antonio volvería a volar con el objetivo de alcanzar la estratosfera en una de las aeronaves recientemente adquiridas por el reino, de la República Fleur de Liz… Casualmente, fue una demostración para nosotros, los estudiantes de mecánica aeronáutica, de que todo se puede lograr con esfuerzo y dedicación.
El Príncipe Aurelio Antonio Vulpes Alba, de Patagones y el Fin del Mundo, o simplemente Antonio, como quiere que lo llamen, es un hábil piloto de combate y paracaidista… y no pierde oportunidad de volar sus aviones, especialmente el Dassault Mirage IIIE, que es su favorito, aunque está entrenado para varios otros modelos y marcas.
La sorpresa fue, casualmente, que momentos antes de su vuelo, me llamó directamente, sorprendiéndome:
- ¡Ven acá Foyel!, fue la orden que me dio mientras caminaba por el pasillo antes de ingresar a la sala de reuniones, a la que asistía.
- Saldrás en la foto conmigo, pídele a tu amigo uno de esos cascos y ¡ven!, me dijo al llegar. Los fotógrafos estaban atentos, y el príncipe señaló a uno de ellos, que inmediatamente se acercó a nosotros;
- ¿En qué puedo ayudarle, Majestad?, dijo el fotógrafo
- Una copia de la foto para este estudiante, eso es todo. Yo la pago, ponga la foto en mi cuenta.
- Como usted solicite, Su Serenísimo Señor, dijo el fotógrafo.
Y es allí donde el príncipe y yo posamos juntos, teniendo un bonito recuerdo de ese momento, de uno de los vuelos estratosféricos que hizo, y todos fuimos testigos.
Y fue un grato recuerdo que salí con casco de piloto y uniforme de gala, lo que demostró aún más que el Príncipe a menudo y de manera divertida rompía el protocolo...
